Corporate & Consulting Career (1998–2025)
From 2006 to 2025, Dr. Weder worked as an executive and subject matter expert in organizational development, leadership development, and executive talent management for large global corporations. His expertise includes sustainable leadership, strategic succession management, performance appraisal, compensation systems, and executive talent management—aimed at strengthening organizational purpose and competitiveness.
Between 1998 and 2006, he was a management consultant specializing in leadership and organizational development for national and international companies across various industries (technology, telecommunications, retail, pharmaceuticals, and financial services). This experience sharpened his business acumen and laid the foundation for his expertise in leadership development.
Academic Background (1981–2002)
Dr. Weder earned his Ph.D. in political and social sciences (Dr. disc. pol.) from the University of Göttingen (1998–2002). His dissertation,
"Optimal Action – Using the Example of High Speed", explored psychological regulation in high-performance environments such as sports and aviation. Though he aspired to an academic career, circumstances prevented him from pursuing it further.
Between 1995 and 1997, he obtained an M.A. in economics and performance psychology from the University of Ottawa. To finance his studies, he conducted leadership and motivation seminars for Swiss companies and universities, applying elite sports principles to business topics like high-pressure performance, team leadership, and sustainable success in competitive environments.
He holds an M.Sc. in exercise science from ETH Zurich (1981–1985).
Entrepreneurial & Sports Career (1985–1996)
From 1995 to 1996, he ran a small business producing bobsled sports equipment, selling his expertise and materials to international customers. Prior to this, from 1985 to 1994, he managed a bobsleigh racing team as a small business, achieving multiple Olympic, World, and European championships, as well as an overall World Cup victory.
Early Career & Education
Between 1984 and 1991, he taught sports and general education at vocational and cantonal schools in Eastern Switzerland. Born on August 2, 1961, in Diepoldsau, Switzerland, he completed his compulsory education there and attended secondary and cantonal school in Heerbrugg (Matura C, science track).
